タイの英字新聞Bangkok Postが伝えるところによれば、タイ政府が国家のアピールのためにWebブラウザベースで操作できる3D仮想空間「Thailand Planet」の開発しているという。
「Thailand Planet」は、タイ初の政府がスポンサーとなって開発される自国産仮想空間で、外国人投資家に対しタイの経済やビジネスの情報を伝えるほか、観光や仕事でタイに訪れる人たちのためにタイの歴史や文化、各地域のショッピングエリアやレストラン、公官庁、ビジネスエリアなどあらゆる情報を提供する。同国のAlongkorn Ponlaboot商務副大臣のコメントによれば「この3Dプロジェクトは、タイ全体のイメージを世界に伝えビジネスチャンスを拡大することを目的としている」とのこと。
尚、「Thailand Planet」の一般向け初公開は11月28～30日までCentara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centreにて開催される経済フォーラム「Thailand International Creative Economy Forum (TICEF)」に予定されている。
